Blackjack Playing 'blind'.

Playing blind is a real risk, and not everywhere will let you do it. I've done it on a couple of hands, both against players who I thought were were either reading my body language or counting cards, because if I don't know what I have, nor can they! Because they never saw the cards (I folded rather than won) it threw their count off and swung the game back towards me.

Have you ever done this? When would you consider playing a hand blind without ever picking your cards up or knowing the value?

I don't think that's something that I would ever be able to do under any circumstances. I'm one of those 'control freaks' who always wants to know what's happening so I can make the best choice for myself.

I read an article where they were talking about 'blinds' in poker and I got the impression that they were talking about something other than not looking at your cards while playing. Is this term used in any other context?
