Less addiction?

I know there have been numerous discussions regarding online versus B & M casinos over which is better than the other. I notice that when I play online, I tend to get hooked more because of the possibility of playing as many games everywhere and anywhere. For a B & M, you can choose to go and even when you do, you cannot do as much as you would online.

I agree that when playing online, there is the possibility of getting addicted as you could go on and on without feeling a need to stop. However, I think you could also get hooked to a B & M if you have people who keep dragging you there. In my view, it all depends on the situation. I really fear getting hooked though.

I think it's true that you are less likely to get addicted at a B & M casino than when you play online. I feel that playing online makes it easier to get hooked because there have been times when I've played for countless hours and didn't even realize how much time I just spent playing online. I feel you have to set a timer just so you don't spend the whole day playing.

I'm not sure about addiction as I dont suffer from that but what I did notice with myself ( in the earlier years) was that I would gamble irresponsibly as to me it wasn't like betting real money (by that I mean physically placing a chip on the felt like in a B&M casino).. you have to maintain a grip on reality in what you are doing. By irresponsibly I mean carrying on with a progression for example when I should have taken the loss.

Whereas there is a lesser chance of being addicted when playing in a B&M casino, I think it all depends on self-discipline. You could still play online but have a schedule as to what time you need to stop. Then again, addiction means different things to different people, don't you think? If I am playing for 6 straight hours and I am not making a loss, am I really addicted or passionate about what I do? I presume that we tend to think more of addiction when someone is playing too much but winning less.

That's an interesting observation, Clyne. It's true that we really only use the word "addiction" when something is having a negative impact on someone's life.

In regards to B&M casinos being less addictive, yes, I agree with that. In my case, the nearest casino is 45 minutes away and parking once I get there is a nightmare, so when I do go, I have to plan for it and make sure it's what I really want to do that day/evening.
