What got you into gambling? And how old were you when you first started playing? For me, it was some of the movies I watched as a kid and I found the whole concept fascinating.

I got off into gambling, because I used to play card games at home with my family, and eventually wanted to transfer those skills to the casino.

For me it was out of curiosity. The movies also had a part in making me get into this. I used to be very cautious as a kid but started going easy on myself and so I started gambling as a teenager.

Gambling is a social activity and it's friends who first dragged me into a casino. Initially, I was very reluctant but there was no going back after I started. I have kept the same circle of friends for a while and so we always keep other company in the casino.

Based on this definition of Gambling:
To play games of chance for money; bet.
The prizes won on billiard tournaments between Boys Clubs facilities in the region of the state I lived in, went back to the facility that won via the pool players who were members of that facility. For instance, if we won a tournament against the Boys Club in the neighboring town, our prize went straight back our local Boys Club. A prize used to make the Boys Club better, which benefitted all of us who went there everyday after school. So I would win something, but in a roundabout way.

Based on this definition:
To take risky action in the hope of a desired result
When I was seven years old, I asked a girl in my first grade class if she wanted to be my girlfriend.

We typically start young with generic versions of gambling. Generic when compared to what some of do now.

I believe that gambling is sort of something that's found in all of us and going by what @zephyr 12 has mentioned, I started out on generic gambling at quite an early age. As for serious gambling, that only started when I was around 20.

My family got me started. One of the things my family has always done is get together to play cards. Once I was old enough to join in with the adults, I was hooked. It was a bonding time for our family and still is today.

An old boyfriend took me to my first casino. I was already in my thirties and had never been to one, partially because the part of Texas that I'm from doesn't have any. New Mexico was a whole other country practically because it included casinos. I won $5 my first time!

I remember how my first win felt; I think it was around $10 and as little as that amount was, I still recall every detail like this was yesterday. It took me time to completely get immersed in gambling partly because I was too cautious then. I realized that throwing caution to the wind (at times) helps build confidence.

I agree that gambling should be just a social activity, however, there are many people out there who have issues with gambling to the extent of the ruination of their finances and families. I hope they all seek help soon.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I was primarily led by a sense of danger and fear. Fear of losing, and anticipation of winning. Strong emotions in general. First started playing 3 years ago. There were ups and downs. What pushed me was a lot of different news articles about winnings, and some movies.

If your aim is to win back losses, or if you;'re trying to win to support your family in a desperate situation, you should stay right away from gambling.

My two older brothers played videogames on an Amiga and later Win95/98 PCs, and i often sat wide eyed and looked on. At age ~8 i got an old Win95 PC of my own with a SNES emulator and some other old games on it and played with that.

As time went my brothers got older and moved out so i got more time with the "proper" PC in the house (my dad is a bit of a gadget nut and would get a now PC for the family every 3-4 years) and spent untold hours playing WC3 custom games, Diablo 2, C&C: Generals, etc.

During this whole time a lot of the time i spent playing with other children revolved around videogames in one form or another as well, and most of them had similar experiences.

In my early teens i started hanging out with a local "youth club" who arranged LAN parties and stuff. This is also where i was introduce to a lot of traditional games like tabletop RPGs and boardgames, which i still enjoy regularly.

I started from bets when I was 16 after every training. Then I started playing poker with friends and then in online rooms. And now I like playing slots.

honestly, I am not sure about that, but i guess it is the fact that I saw my dad playing a lot of poker while I was a kid
